“Being able to watch as an athlete is able to shift their mindset in order to get the most out of running and out of themselves is where the real magic lies.”

Coaching philosophy

I believe that running is such an amazing sport with many parallels to life itself. It forces you constantly better yourself. I use my own experience to help athletes be their best selves. The more you can embrace and truly enjoy the process of training the better your results will be. I aim to learn about each individual athlete, encouraging them to reflect on their own running in order to help them become the best version of themselves and challenging them to get the most out of themselves. While also taking in to account the role the technical aspect (STRIDE) along with the mental aspect (WISE) can play in becoming your best!

Coaching certifications

  • Certified endurace club coach through Athletics Canada and National Coaching Certification Program

  • Certified strength and conditioning specialist through National Strength & Conditioning Association

What is your inspiration?

My inspiration to start StrideWise was my dad; who was my number one supporter.  It took me a long time to come up with a name for the team as I wanted it to pay tribute to him and align with my beliefs of coaching. His name was Steven Walter Moran; so his initials live in StrideWise and are a constant reminder of the love, belief & support he unconditionally showed me growing up. It is so special to have his initials on our singlets.

Favourite race distance:

MARATHON!!!  Ever since I ran my first one in 2014 I have absolutely fallen in love with the distance. I not only love racing it but I love the training it takes to be your best at the marathon. I think there is always things to learn and improve with the marathon.

Biggest game changer in running:

Getting injured, learning and coming back stronger.  Through this having a major shift in my mindset as well. I use these experiences to help me be a better coach.

How did you start running/coaching?

I fell in love with running in elementary school because I could beat the boys and it has been a love affair ever since. I ran varsity cross country & track at the University of Windsor and I have been road racing  since.  With a wealth of my own personal running experience; I wanted to share that through coaching. Starting at the high school level, then recreational triathletes and eventually becoming a Nike Toronto run coach. After coaching for a few years and having some online athletes, I decided to start my own team and it has been an amazing journey so far! I started StrideWise in January 2019; I have absolutely loved being able to bring the team aspect of running to athletes that had not experienced it previously.

I have been so fortunate to have so many amazing coaches and team atmospheres in my running career and my goal is to bring that to StrideWise as best as I can!

Ideal athlete to work with:

If you truly want to improve and be your best runner I want to work with you!  Whatever your level if you are dedicated to getting the most out of running and yourself than that is something I can work with! No standards to meet just the right attitude!
